Digital India and New Transparent taxation platform

To increase the trust of taxpayers towards the central government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a new announcement for honest taxpayers. The Central Board of Direct Taxes has recently taken a number of steps to improve the functioning of the Income Tax Department and bring transparency.

On 13 August 2020, PM Modi launched the Transparent Taxation Program (Transparent Taxation System - Honoring the Faithful) which comes under his Digital India vision. According to E NEWS PAPER this, 3 facilities have been introduced, which are Faceless Assessment, Faceless Appeal, and Taxpayers Charter. The Faceless Assessment and Taxpayers Charter has already come into force, while the Faceless Appeal will come into effect from September 25. Efforts are being made to strengthen honest taxpayers through this new system.

Understand Faceless Assessment?

Faceless should not mean anything about who is the taxpayer and who is the income tax officer. Earlier, the income tax department of the city used to investigate, but now an officer of any state or city can investigate anywhere. All this will also be decided by computer, who will do it in tax assessments. Even the officer who came out of the assessment will go to anyone, it will not be known. The biggest advantage of this will be that there will not be any manipulation to create identity and pressure from the Income Tax authorities. This will also prevent unnecessary litigation. It will be a problem for those who used to follow wrong methods and did not pay taxes.

What is Faceless Appeal?

PM Modi has also talked about introducing faceless appeal facility under the transparent tax system, which will come into effect from 25 September 2020. Under LATEST TODAY NEWS, taxpayers will be able to appeal. Being faceless means that no officer will know who is the person who appeals. If everything is decided by computer, a case or appeal cannot be sent to a loved one. When it starts from September 25, more information about this will also be shared by the government.

What does a taxpayer charter mean?

PM Modi has called the Taxpayer Charter a major step in the country's development journey. He said that this is a step to balance the rights and duties of the taxpayer. There are very few counted countries that give this level of respect and protection to taxpayers and now India too has joined it.Therefore, more awareness is being expected.

PM Modi said, "The honest taxpayer of the country plays a huge role in nation-building. When the life of the honest taxpayer of the country becomes easy, it moves forward, the country also develops, the country also moves forward." PM Narendra Modi said, "Even though the tax system is becoming Digital, it is giving taxpayers confidence of fairness and fearlessness. The platform has major reforms like Faceless Assessment, Faceless Appeal, and Taxpayers Charter."

Digital India program is an initiative of the Government of India towards enriching India. Its main objective is to set a new record in the field of science and technology in the country. By this, the only goal is to empower the country digitally. In the present era, today the same country is ahead which has made science and technology the medium of the progress of its country. Often there are consultations about its merits and demerits.
